LRPs Turned Away Today at HKIA
Confirmed reports of Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR) and Authorized Evacuees being turned away at the gates of Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) by U.S. military.
Confusing State Department Messaging
U.S. State Department has been directing large numbers of SIV applicants to HKIA, their messaging has at time seemed unofficial and has raised red flags by aid organizations. State Department has made contact with NGOs trusted by local evacuees. Need to improve communication through trusted partners.
Slow Movement of Evacuees into HKIA
Evacuees notified to come to HKIA are being forced to wait outside the airport for days, exposed to the Taliban. These individuals are having to make the trip back to safe houses, where the Taliban are starting to "disappear" them (likely to be murdered).
